I would never argue that there isn’t a good time for a beer. But the best time for a beer (at least for this fan) is during a summer, baseball tailgate.
And not only does this fan love a cold one in his hand, but he also loves to cook his food in beer.
Over the past few years my dad and I have worked to perfect the below steak recipe (marinade). Last summer we finally nailed it….
Beer and Brown Sugar Steak
- 2 (24 ounce) beef sirloin steaks
- 1 bottle of Guinness
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 5 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 tablespoon of seasoned salt
- 1 tablespoon of black pepper
- 4 tablespoons of minced garlic
- 1 jalapeno pepper, diced
- 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
Pre-Game
- Use a fork to poke holes on the surface of the steaks.
- Mix together the beer, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, jalapeno pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Pour the sauce over the steaks.
- Using a zip lock bag, marinate the steaks overnight (for a least 10 hours).
Game Time
- Equally divide the remaining dry ingedients (salt, pepper, and garlic).
- Remove the steaks from the zip lock bag. Pour some of the remaining marinade into a small bowl and set aside.
- Sprinkle 1/2 the remaining dry ingredients on one side of the steaks.
- Set the steaks aside for 5 minutes.
- Turn the steaks over, and sprinkle the remaining dry ingredients on the steaks.
- Set the steaks aside for 5 minutes.
- Preheat grill for high heat and lightly oil the grill grate.
- Grill the steaks to the desired doneness. Throughout the grilling baste the steaks with the leftover marinade.
Once the steak is done, open up another Guinness and enjoy!
