I make it a point to not follow professional boxing because I have become so disenfranchised with the way it has been run in past years. The fact that any fight worth watching is always on pay-per-view has kept me away too. (the same rationale goes into why I have yet to jump on the MMA/UFC bandwagon.) It’s hard to justify paying $54.99 for a fight that could go three rounds. Last night’s Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton fight was just that. A lot of hype but in the end, it was a second round knockout. Although the knockout in itself was rather spectacular it was a whole lot of sizzle and not a lot of steak. So forgive me if I just can’t get into professional boxing. If they put it on regular TV or even basic cable I might become a fan again. Until then, I’ll spend my 50 bucks on tailgating gear.
